Gipping Press was founded by Mr Mike Truscott in 1980 when he retired from the military. Mike built Gipping Press into a very effective small format print house and when he retired in 2007 Bob Cuff purchased the company, having worked in the business for several years. As the market for print shifted to smaller but more frequent volumes Gipping Press was well placed and continued to grow.
With expansion in both staff and equipment it became necessary to ‘up size’ and so, in early 2014, the company took over unit 1 next door and increased their floor space by an additional 50%. Later that year we joined forces with another local print firm, Swaingrove Repro Ltd, and the management team became four. Bob continued as a director plus Greg who was the previous owner of Swaingrove, Jonathan who had been General Manager of Gipping Press and Danny, Bob’s son and previously production manager.
In the years since Gipping Press continued to invest and adapt to the ever changing environment. Further equipment and systems purchases were made throughout the production process. This, coupled with new staff and improved services, enabled the company to negotiate the pandemic challenges and emerge stronger than ever. An excellent large-format printing machine with state-of-the-art cutter and mounting bench was purchased in 2018 to open the door to display and signage printing, demand for which continues to expand.
In January 2022 we merged with a printing company called Windsor, Clarke & Brackenbury from Ipswich and this has proved an excellent acquision, strengthening our place in Suffolk's printing marketplace.
Further investment in a new plate making system was made in January 2023 and a new digital press will soon be installed. Continued improvement in service the continued ambition.
